What are the category limits? #
We use a system called Dynamic Categories to establish fun and fair racing each week. Once registration closes, we look at the available data for each athlete and group them with similar ability-level athletes to create fair racing. Categories do not have a standardized set limit each week. Some other racing platforms have set category limits, where as our category boundaries change every week to group athletes together in the most fair way possible.
How am I placed into a category? #
We place athletes into appropriate categories based upon several factors, such as course profile, power profile, historical performances, and others. Our goal is always to group athletes of similar abilities together to create fair racing.
Do I have to race in the same category all month? #
A rider’s category may change throughout the month depending on improving or declining fitness and even available competitors. The surest way to maintain the fairest category is to consistently ride on the MyWhoosh platform to give us the most data possible to make the best decision on your category every week.
Do I need to be a part of the same team all month? #
A rider can only race in the prize money event for a team they have completed 2 qualifications event with, or if a rider has competed as an individual for some of the races. A competitor is not permitted to switch teams during the qualification period.
Can I race as an individual all month and then join a team on the last week? #
Absolutely.
What if one of my teammates is stronger than the rest? #
A team will always be placed in the category of their strongest rider. We encourage teams to be made up of similar ability athletes. Lower category athletes are always welcome to race up in one of the higher categories, but we cannot allow a stronger teammate to race down a category.
How do I find a team? #
We do not share contact information with our competitors, and we do not actively matchmake team members. We would recommend contacting potential team members through social media or even in the in-game chat function. Perhaps a message prior to the event in the warm-up area is the best way.
What happens if I or a teammate receive an ANL? #
If a rider has their result removed from a qualification race, that race will not count towards that month’s prize money event. We recommend completing the races earlier in the month if there is a technical failure that results in a removal. If the removal comes during the prize money event, then that individual will not be eligible for prize money and if that removal results in a team having less than 3 qualified finishers, then that team will not be eligible for prize money.
